Opportunity Knocks

There is a position at Malcolm Douglas Wilderness Park. This is near Twelve Mile - a suburb about twelve miles (duh) out of Broome. They provide caravan accomodation. It would be stupid of me not to apply, so I will.
Of course, there are problems.
- Is this contract or permanent? I can handle living in a caravan for a while, as long as it has air-con (it will help me save money), but after too long I would like a house, and Bella (so I'd need to find pet friendly accomodation) and Matt (he doesn't deal well with the heat up there though - among other things).
- Bella. I'd need to find someone to care for her until I could get her up to Broome (God knows how long that would be). I'd miss her terribly. I'd probably be able to fly down to Perth a few times a year to see her, but I'd want her with me.
- Matt - where will he live in the meantime? He can't afford an awful lot of rent.
- Furniture - I've built up a bit of a collection now. Matt can use some of it, but some will need to be stored. I will have to give up my shiny new fridge, freezer and bed for a while (I can take my pillow though).
- What's the net access like up there?? As long as I can order stuff online life is good.
Perks
- This job probably won't pay as much as a boring office job in the city - but it'll be doing something I enjoy. I can almost guarantee the pay will be better than Broome because it's not a non-profit organisation. And living in a caravan will save packets on rent.
- I'll be in Broome. Lovely weather. Yummy soap. Cheap local organic veggies. Birds!
So, today I will ring and find out about hours and pay and permancy and that sort of stuff. I have put out a call on Gumtree to see what the chances are of finding pet friendly rentals up there.

Date: 2010-07-01 04:01 am (UTC)I need a new job, stat. preferably paying better than this one, not too fussy about what I'm doing as long as it isn't customer service!
BTW, keep meaning to ask... I got the urge to go skating. Maybe even ice skating. Any interest? Also let's do karaoke soon?
