Having a hotel room is great for a person like me who needs frequent, brief bouts of 'me time' to be able to handle 4 days worth of awesome peeps and massive geekery.

Picked up completed hoodie from Sarah on Wednesday night. She's done the hard parts, now it was up to me to add the finishing touches. With a bit of help from Gilligan I managed to stitch the diamonds on the chest then decided to put 3 more on the arm. While doing that I was approached by... I think her name is Katherine? She has a twin called Sarah. She offered to demonstrate a different stitch to me and ended up stealing my hoodie and proceeding to finish the diamonds! Go her. We discovered we shared a love of all things Batty and discussed the merits of Batman Returns (which I really must watch, I DO have a copy) and who we'd like to see in the third Nolan movie.

At the book stand I discovered a copy of Mad Love and demanded it be set aside while I went to grab my wallet. I also bought Return of the Dark Knight. That was $55 spent.

Later I found myself sucked into the auction room, where I proceeded to stitch up the liliripes, much to my surprise and satisfaction. One of the lots for auction was a pile of 18 old Dark Horse Terminator comics. I make a lackluster bid of $6 only to be informed that the reserve was $30. It didn't sell. I spent the next half hour going, "Hrmm, they are kinda rare these days and probably worth loads more than that. And it may be the only opportunity I have to read/own them. I wonder if you can make an offer?" So I then sat through a further 2 hours of auction so I could ask the people running it at the end. This I did and was told, "Talk to that guy, he's selling them." I offered the reserve because really, it was worth it and he was only to keen to sell them. So glad I nabbed them, would have been kicking myself for ages otherwise.

This morning in costuming workshop was helped out again by Katherine to finish the liliripes and attach them. They got done! She proceeded to drag the hoodie to a Dr Who panel and finish stitching them on. They need some refinement, they're a bit droopy and lopsided, but sit okay when the hoodie is zipped up. OMG it makes me squee whenever I look at it. And now many people think that's my Masquerade costume. Haha, I fooled them all. ;)

Now I'm going to go a panel on NASA's budget cuts then learn about the Square Kilometre Array. Yay for science!

Glad the hoodie went down well. I shall want to see the finished product. :)

Sounds fun.

Re Batman- you *Must* play BATMAN ARKHAM ASYLUM on the PS3: It's Mark Hamill's definitive Joker performance. Best line:

Joker: "Harley failed and now she's gone, off the guest list, dead to me! Do you discipline your underlings, Bats, or is that saucy outfit you make him wear punishment enough?"

Nolan's third Batman: I'd love to see a proper, non-camp take on Poison Ivy, Manbat and Mad Hatter...

Dude, I had that game on preorder so I could get the batarang (and was terribly disappointed to find it was just plastic and stuck to a stand). Can't wait for the next one to come out.

As for Nolan 3... Barbara Gordon (as Batgirl or Oracle) could be cool. And villains, I'm also interested in seeing an eco-terrorist Ivy, more of Two-Face (because he is so not dead), more of Scarecrow (because Cillian Murphy as scary bad guy is oh so sexy), Mad Hatter or Clayface (they have the technology to properly portray him now).

NASA panel was good. One of those ones where my mind was entirely changed within the first 5 minutes.

I was one of the ones all disappointed that they'd never put a man back on the moon and all that, and immediately became clear how that's a GOOD thing. Spending billions on a (very dangerous) PR exercise is not preferable to spending that money on actual new research, which is what will happen now.
