Sure why not? It's not like it's any more harmful than tobacco and alcohol.

I destest any smoke in my vicinity and I dislike alcohol most of the time, but since when did my view count?

At least if it is legalised, they can tax it like any other legal drug and make a freaking fortune off of the taxes, and perhaps let up a bit on the possibility of raising the GST as is being touted about now.

Sure. The benefits of Marijuana, and the plant products that can be produced from it far outweigh the costs of enforcing the illegal substance and any drug rehabilitation required for abusers.

Also, as princess kessie pointed out, if it's legal, it can be taxed. companies that sell the products will have to pay taxes (and staff...) and people that buy products will be paying taxes on that too. the profits are significant for the government and the people producing it. And unlike tobacco, it's much easier to grow your own and harvest the crop.
