Spotted today
Jul. 24th, 2009 10:41 pmAs I was driving to City Beach to watch the waves as I ate my lunch, I crossed the coast road and saw a few birds on the grass under the pine trees on the side of the road.
Are they ravens?... holy crap, there's LOADS of them! They must be pigeons.... Hang on, you think maybe they're Carnaby's?!
I turned around and looked closer. YES! A big bunch of Carnaby's Cockatoos (and a few Galahs) nomming on the pinecones on the ground. I turned my radio down and opened the window and could hear the clicking sounds as they munched away. There must have been 70 or so of them. I parked on the side of the road and watched them for a good half hour while I ate my lunch (2:00 - 2:30pm). I did take some video of them, but in my incompetence I ended up with 3 seconds of carseat instead of 30 seconds of Carnaby's Cockatoos. *sigh*
I DID get some photos of them.

Lovely. :) I drove to the beach for the last half hour of lunch, when I passed by again near 3pm they were still there.
