My project was to make a Harley Quinn styled hoodie. I bought a pattern and I bought fabric.

That was about 2 months ago, since then I've made no progress on the hoodie. I'm scared to cut anything. I read the instructions on the pattern but it's all written in a different language. :(

Do I need something I can mark the fabric with? Baking paper isn't wide enough to trace the pattern onto, and like I'll ever use it again anyway. I may as well just cut the pattern itself. But I'm never sure which line to cut around, there are so many!

Ergh, so confuzzling. I've never been much of a crafty type.

Is it multi-size? If so, you gotta find the line that matches the size you want and cut that. Sometimes they cross over eack other though so generally follow the smoothest line.

And yeah, unless you think it likely you'll go up a size and want to make this again (and even then I think I can still remember how to grade patterns so I could fix that for you) go ahead and cut it.

If you want to mark the fabric, use dressmakers chalk. You can get some at any fabric shop and probably Kmart/Big W too.

Otherwise, bring it over sometime and I can cut it for ya. ;)

Where'd you get the pattern that there's no English translation? (Is it French? I can probably translate a little of it or else I do know a french speaker or two that could do it)

It's English, but it's sewing experts English, not person-who-has-never-sewn-before English.

The thing is also that I want to alter the pattern slightly.

You can use newspaper, the broadsheets like the Australian work for clothes patterns. If you need help translating ask. *hugs*
