Bumps in the night

On windy nights there is this constant knocking sound - that's the front door, which is a bit too small for it's frame, will have to jam some newspaper around it to shut it up.

But occasionally there is a much louder, solid, THUMP that vibrates the windows. I have NO idea what that is, but it's kind of alarming.

Our last rental did that. Turns out it was one of the cables that went to the roof from the street. It would bang against the gutter when it was windy. Drove me batty!
