A lot of the "No" voters complain, "We've voted on this THREE times before!! Isn't it obvious we don't want it?"

Now, this I can understand if the last 3 referendums had been over the past 3 years or something. Heck, I was sure I had voted on the issue previously myself (and I was sure I voted no - whereas I'll be voting yes this time). But obviously I have never had the opportunity to vote on this issue before.

Apparently the last referendum on the subject was in 1992. That's SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO!!

There are hundreds or thousands of new elligible voters now, and I'm sure their opinions differ to everyones 17 years ago. So I think it's completely reasonable we have another vote now. Quit yer whining!! Just vote "No" and get it over with and the proof will be in the pudding as they say.

And I have no issues with the issue coming up again in another 10 years or so. The population does not remain the same.

I don't know really. It might have been 17 years since the last one as opposed to the previous 8 and 9 year intervals, but we did get a three year trial with this one too... Really I don't know what percentage of the voting population is over 35 and what percentage is under, but I do get sick of people going on and on about it: the politicians, the news, people in general. Personally I wouldn't mind it if there was just a referendum and all we had to do was vote on it every eight years or so but to all the associated paraphernalia I'd say thanks but no thanks.

Maybe they could just tack a vote on whether people want a referendum/trial in the first place onto the usual election ballot papers and we could bypass what might simply be an unnecessary mess.

Okay, okay, I said it was a fair point back in angriest's blog. Stop making us all feel so old.

Huh! I never got to vote on Federation!

Rob actually put forward a very good point about if the verdict IS yes today, you can bet there won't ever be another vote on it. Which is also unfair. People change, demographics change.

I think it's time for another federation/secession/similar stuff vote again. :) But then again, I'm an anarchist at heart.
