Comment on this post and I will choose seven interests from your profile. You will then explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.
Well, I'll do my best to choose interests for you.
glittery_girl chose some for me.
Birding
You have to ask? I got into birdwatching as a serious hobby in very late 2003. Of course, I've always had an interest in nature, especially animals, but I never went out of my way to ID everything I saw previously. Now I write a list each day of all the birds I've seen that day. Some lists have one or two species (rainy days where I stayed in or was sick or something) and the longest list so far is 102 species (that was in and around Broome). I chose birding because I figured - they're easier to see than mammals, and I mistakenly thought it would be a cheap hobby. I've now spent a bit over $2000 on optics and field guides (and I got bargains on the optics), and intend to spend thousands more on travel - but then again, I probably would have travelled anyway, but now my main places to go are good birding spots. It's a great hobby - you can do it anywhere and anytime, as long as you can see part of the sky or landscape.
Disaster Movies
A somewhat guilty pleasure of mine. Disaster movies, especially terrible ones where everything that can go wrong does go wrong and ESPECIALLY ones that are so scientifically inacurrate as to be laughable. Some choice picks are Volcano, Deep Blue Sea and Deep Impact.
Ethology
Ethology is the study of animal behaviour. I don't know if I really need to say anymore.
Multiverse
In Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion series he mentions the Multiverse. But Multiverse Theory stems from quantum physics, or is it the other way around? Anyway, pretty much it's the theory/belief/whatever that every possibility is happening/has happened/will happen in some universe somewhere.
Nine Inch Nails
I got into NIN in the late 90's, when I was an angsty teen. I also thought (and I kinda still do) that Trent Reznor was sex-on-legs, but I guess it's the persona he puts forward with the music. There was also the fact the guy I was smitten with at the time was a big fan too (turned out he was never interested in me *sobs*). The fool sold me his NIN collection (which included some rare demo stuff) for $60 because he had to pay a parking fine or something. I guess I won that one. :)
Red-Eye
Red-Eye is the drink in my default icon. Red-Eye Platinum namely. There are other varieties, but this one is my favourite. It's one of those energy drinks, but it's half the price of Red-Bull, tastes 1000 times better and is made in Australia. Red-Eye Platinum claims it has "The Seven Gs" - Guarana, gingko, ginseng, gotu kola, grapeseed, green tea and ginger (and the only one of them I had to look up was the ginger!) It makes me go *bounce*.
Snow Leopards
They're just stunning. And rare. And secretive. And beautiful. And lithe. And smart. And... yeah. They are not my favourite cat/big cat. I also utterly adore African Leopards, Amur Leopards, Clouded Leopards and baby Cheetahs, OMG sooooo cute. (And tigers, and servals, and jaguars... about the only cat I don't adore is the lion - and that's because it's the least cat-like, but I still think they're stunning).

Date: 2008-06-25 11:50 am (UTC)but not in a sex way.
I love love love amur leopards. I used to love snow leopards, but over time it shifted to the amur. That scene in Planet Earth with the mother and her cub actually makes me CRY. *shakes head*

Australian Raven (I had one chat to me today at Herdsman Lake. It would go "Arhhh-whine", I think it wanted some of my lunch. It was also being enthusiastically dive-bombed by a Willie Wagtail).
Busselton

Fishing Cat
The Last Unicorn (cuz surprisingly, it's the only interest we have in common)
The ocean
familial paraganglioma syndrome

Date: 2008-06-25 02:33 pm (UTC)I wanted to ask by the way, how'd you find out about the Arena Quiz Night? Was it a random thing? Or are you affiliated? I only ask because I'm nosey, and because my psychologist also works for Arena and it feels like a super super small world. Hee. :)
