I have a new mobile phone. Seeing as my old one was kinda crap - I can't get my contacts off it and onto the new phone.

So, ring me, SMS me, MSN me, ICQ me, e-mail me, heck, I'll even screen comments here. Just let me know you number and e-mail addresses.

Wouldn't one generally store contacts on the SIM card and then not have to worry when you stick it in another phone? Just idle curiosity.

That was the theory I think. But the woman at the 3 store had a muck around with my old phone and discovered there was no way to transfer the contacts over.

Ah, one of those evil 3 things. They sound incompetent. When I had to get a SIM replaced, the woman at the Vodafone store was able to copy the old SIM data and then restore it onto the new SIM. I would be disinclined to deal with a company which is lacking the simple technlogy and/or competence to do likewise.

(Though it didn't matter in my case, because my ancient 8-year-old phone, while lacking all those "important" features like polyphonic ring tones, has an infrared comms and all my contacts are backed up on my computer.)

It was an NEC phone that seemed to have zero tech support.
