When I walked to work earlier this week, I noticed that some of the marri trees had been trimmed - the branches are all over the "path" where I walk. My first thought was, "Ooh! Fish and chip shops!"
Now, the only other people in the world who would probably know what I was talking about are my mum and dad, especially dad.
When I was a little kid, and dad used to trim the trees and put the branches in the front yard, I used to place myself within the pile of branches and suddenly the pile became a fried seafood outlet. A thick branch was the counter. A thinner, movable branch was the door I could walk through to get to the workspace. I don't think I had deep friers, my fish and chips came out of nowhere.
Looking at a pile of branches now I still remember how I used to play. A pile was branches was never anything BUT a fish & chip shop. And I really have no idea how it became one or why it could only be the one thing.
Most people - adult and, unfortunately, child these days would just see a pile of branches - I saw and acted out something completely unrelated.
