Does anyone here know much about tripods? I really need some help here deciding which one would be best to go with the Nikon scope I'm probably about to buy.

I really don't know anything about tripods or scopes, but I'd imagine you'd have to look for one that can handle varied terrain, as opposed to one that would simply be used indoors for camera photography. That's also assuming though that you can use the same tripods for cameras and scopes.

Good luck in choosing :)

I bought a Manfroto tripod last fall. Has not given me and problems and is small, compact and stable. Haven't really field tested other tripods, though I recall the Manfroto having alot of qualities recommended for scopes

Not sure what you're after...not even sure what a spotting scope is to be honest.

Though I've had dealings with this group before, Binocular Telescope and Optical World (http://www.btow.com.au/tripods.shtml). They're a helpful bunch and provide plenty of tips.
