Do you know anyones phone number in Narrogin... i wouldnt expect they would have a great many exchanges... find a phone number of a place close to where you will be (a shop, hotel, etc) and you should beable to check that way...
there is ADSL1 (telstra grade) available in Narrogin... narrogin exchange anyway is enabled
will you be getting your own place with your own phone? when you apply to connect the phone, tell telstra you want the line coded "ngpdsl", ie: do not connect the line unless it can get ADSL
it should take telstra no more than about 2 days to connect a standard voice line, however they will be lazy and even if ADSL is available in the area, if your line is not initally ADSL ready, instead of taking 7-10 days to get ADSL it will take 6-8 weeks... if no one beats you the the availability of ADSL
it will take telstra a max of 5 days to complete an NGPDSL request and then less than 2 weeks for the ADSL to be on your phone line after that.
atleast do what I did. I told them that the line was primarily for ADSL and asked them to confirm the line was suitable for ADSL and that nothing would prevent me from getting it. get them to confirm it, take down the name of the person you spoke to and the time. then if it cannot get ADSL take it to the TIO... get $80+ from telstra for lying and eventually still get ADSL :)
I have an address now so I should go about getting the phone line connected. I wish it was just a case of get the line connected, so do I just ask them, "Hi, can I get connected up at *address* with a NGPDSL line"?
