How to speak Malay

I need to learn how to say "No chilli." or "Too hot."

I should be fine as long as I know them. I've done some research and the food looks great, except for the overenthusiastic addition of chilli. It's like those people who put tomato sauce on everything, but at least tomato sauce doesn't burn off your tastebuds and leave you in pain.

No chilli - Tidak pakai cabai, or, tanpa cabai, or tidak pedas.
Too hot - Terlalu pedas.

And you're so right about the overuse of chilli. The general idea - if it doesn't taste good enough, slather it in chilli. If it does, slather it in chilli anyway.

I went to KL for our honeymoon. They mostly speak English now, so you probably won't need to worry about learning how to say no chilli. Every thing I ate over there wasn't hot.

And with the water thing - it is recommended to drink bottled water, but we weren't too strict with it and were ok. We brushed our teeth with tap water, and had ice in our drinks and stuff.. but if we were drinking straight water, then we used the bottle stuff.

Shaun's parents went to both of those places (they met up with us in KL)... They both brushed their teeth with the water, but drank bottled water - and they are both chilli *Freakouts* (they can't even stand the slightest spicey taste) and they don't know ANY malaysian, and they did fine - I am sure you'll enjoy it!!
