Last night it was carbon monoxide. Tonight it was the myriad of poisons in a cigarette.

All cigarettes smell bad, but some are worse than others, and I think all the smokers at KK's were puffing on them tonight. They may as well have been smoking dog turds. I had to go outside for the last half hour because there wasn't a skerrik of oxygen left I'm sure.

5 and a bit months to go. I hate how they decided to put this law through, but figured they'd wait bloody 2 years before implementing it, because woe if we offend the people who are killing themselves and everyone else.

Fuck smokers. No. Pity. Whatsoever. From me.

At karaoke I spend half my time dashing to the toilet. This is because I drink LOADS of water because my throat feels gross, and also the air around the water doesn't reek of smoke, so I've pretty much got my nose in a glass of water and breathing in there, a bit like a makeshift gas mask.

They've been talking about making a law here in colorado making it illegal to smoke in public places like restaurants and bars. I really hope they do, I can't stand going out places and getting a migraine because I'm forced to breathe someone else's smoke.

I've noticed a huge difference in how I feel now that we've been in our own place for about 7 months now. We used to live with my father in law and he smoked in the house. Granted it was only in the basement, but it still would go all through the house. I would just annoy the crap out of me how everyone had this attitude that there was somehow this magical barrier between the basement and the main floor of the house. I used to love it when he'd go on vacation because I could open up the windows down there and after a couple of days actually go down there and do laundry without making myself sick in the process.

The whole thing pissed me off so much I created [livejournal.com profile] anti_smoking. It's become surprisingly successful.

I hate getting sick from smoke too. I have friends who are smokers, but they always make sure to sit by the door and keep it open and make sure I'm not getting it in the face. They're nice like that.

Yeah, I've known people like that too. The two who immediately come to mind have now quit. *yays*

But sometimes (often?) I get in a "death to all smokers" mood. Hey, quitting ISN'T gonna kill them.
