But this time it was kinda amusing.

I haven't been getting rent assistance. I've filled out the forms and see no reason why I'd be inelligible, so I call.

Simple mistake. Someone put in 1/6 instead of 6/1 as my moving date (i.e. 1st of June instead of 6th of January). However, it takes a bit to figure out how to get the system to backpay me.

I have never heard someone make so much noise waiting for the computer to work. She hummed, she made weird kissy noises, she went "do-do-do" in a vaguely tuneful manner. She put me on hold for a bit, but halfway through she came back to tell me "Just a sec mate!"

The problem is now solved so that's all good. And Centerlink actually gave me a bit of a laugh for a change.

Oh my god she sounds like me when I'm at work. I do all those things except put people on hold. Although when I'm waiting for a price check I guess I do put them on hold, but without the music.

GRIN.

See, hold music is not always necessary.
If only she'd come back with -
"Computer says no."

LOL, I do that, I think.

Cos if you're silent too long while waiting for a computer to work, ppl start saying "Hello? Hello, are you still there?".

I don't generally like to converse with customers (unfriendly, me, heh) so I try to make the odd "thinking noise" to let them know I am still here and waiting for the computer to catch up.

it worked out good is good. :)

and yeah, making sounds is a good way to let the customer know you're still there working on it.
