I'm in Arizona. We still don't have daylight savings.

I mean, this is Arizona. Could we possibly need to save any more daylight? :)

well, I don't care too much about daylight savings. It'd be useful since It'd keep us closer in time to everyone else, so I might be able to call my family during the summer without a 2 and a half hour adjustment! Just not totally necessary since I ignore the clock alot of the time anyway.

As for 24/7 shopping, I really want that. It's incredibly useful. As opposed to the current situation where there are a couple of places that can trade later all the time, without competition. Oh, and ofcourse the entirity of december where we get extended trading hours no matter what we voted for, and everyone uses it.

Longer trading hours yes, not necessarily 24 hours trading though and yeah daylight saving still sucky in my book .

the worst thing about it was that there was a state wide referendum, but the issue of trading hours only effected people in perth. for the deregulation of trading hours to go through everyone in perth almost had to vote "yes" because country areas didn't care and most would say "no"

we should start a petition to get a metro area referendum

And yet in Broome I could go to Coles until midnight.

exactly why a state wide referendum didn't work.

I don't particularly want daylight savings, but I want the 24 hour / 7 day trading. Our whole family wants both. :)

My main two reasons are that it gives me jet lag all summer, and in my line of work/interest things run on REAL time.

Animals and plants don't have daylight savings.

What!??? No disrespect, but that doesn't even make sense!!! (To me anyway)
How can changing the clock 1 measly hour give you "jetlag" ALL SUMMER!???
Surely your body would adjust to having to get out of bed/go to sleep 1 hour earlier in no more than a week?
Also it's not as if daylight savings changes the actual amount of time Perth is exposed to sunlight. It's like saying "if we have daylight savings then there are more daylight hours and my curtains will fade". You can obviously see how stupid an argument like that is.
Explain to me how changing the clocks 1 hr affects all the plants and animals, because I just can't figure it out. Please, enlighten me (no sarcasm intended).
Sorry if this came across like I was rude or having a go, it's just that I honestly can't see any viable explanation why we don't have daylight savings and it confuses and frustrates me! =)

If you were working with animals, you would still have to get up at the same real time to do certain things (so what you did at 8am normal time would now need to be done at 7am), because animals work on real time, not artificial human time.
