Better than a kick in the face I guess.

Nattie - Leica Falcon - related to Nothing Leica Dane?

On A Juene - yaknow, I was considering that horse. Oh well.

And Makybe. Helllooooo stud fees! And what if they race her again next year? She's miles ahead right now.

Aren't you glad i told you to put a bit on her?

I'm up $15ish as not only did my bet on her to win work, but the $3 mystery bet i got pulled out horse number 1, Makybe Diva :)

I worked out just before, i've missed picking the winner 5 times since 1988. that's 13 from 18!

and she wont run next year, as they chose to retire her after winning today. The stud fees will be amazing

ah hello, stud fees is for a stallion to cover an mare, and seeing as the diva is a mare..... her foals will fetch a good price but she dont have the equipment to be a stud.
i should know, i have as stud.

Leica Falon is by Nothin'leica dane, that is they're father and son. I'm quite curious as to if Makbe Diva will go to stud this year it's getting late in the season, so I'm really wondering what will happen there.

As for Franklin Gardens someone needs shooting. Poor beast.

That's what I meant.

What's it called for a mare? I could only think of the phrase "stud fees".

What was up with that horse?

I was under the impression the race began at 12:20 WST. So when I arrived at the TV at about 12:07 and discovered the race was over I was a bit disappointed. But I did notice one horse lagging behind badly.

He was lame that's all anyone will say, but on the Thursday or Friday before the cup he came back from track work very slightly sore. The trainer or the vet said he'd strained a hind tendon the other said he'd bruised his sole. He was sound Monday and Tuesday mornings but to me it's plain stupidity and greed to run an animal in a race when it's pulled up sore even if it is only slight within a week before. Especially when it's the Melbourne cup, where everyone goes like cut snakes and especially when the track has been watered down to dead (which is why some of the horses performed so poorly, the VRC gifted it to the mare if that's not track bias I don't know what is! Half the field wanted the track good or better). Any trainer worth his salt would know that a wet track puts more strain on tendons than a good track which is the last thing you want with a suspect tendon strain.

By the by with mares it's just increases the value of the foals. I don't think there is a short phrase for it.

she will not be put in foal this breed season as it will give the foal a disadvantage on the track. it will be running in 2 year old race and be only 18 months if that.
as for what term they give... we simply say she is to be put in foal... a broodmare.
Franklins Gardenas pulled up very lame with nasty tendon injury. Even Vinnie Roe had troubles, coming out of that race very distressed.
i did not hear that the VRC had the track condition changed... where did you get that information?
