Mummify broke down with 50 to go in a race at caufield yesterday (was it actually the caufield cup?) and had damaged his leg enough that they had to have him put down.
Are they saying 50 there? Here we've had, 30m after 30 before, 50 after and 300 after. I was watching the race (it was the Caulfield cup) and he did start wobbling a bit three or four strides from home but tired horses do that.
Coss he smashed the two small bones at the back of the fetlock (the ankle) that hold and strain the tendon where it curves around that joint. There were pictures all over the sunday sun of Freeman and the owners crying. Poor horse, he lead the whole way, tried his bloody guts out and somehow managed to get third. You knew it was bad by the way Johnny Letts cut the interview short and spun Banjo around and belted off back to Mummify.

I really like the name of Leica Falcon. Certainly a few dollars on that one.
