I remember now
Apr. 12th, 2005 06:56 pmSeeing as my saving is going so well I'm seriously considering hiring a car and driving back down to Perth.
I'm currently researching prices and figuring where I would like to check out - Lake McCleod and Hamelin Bay are certainly on the list. Mum will chuck a fit but I'm a big girl and can look after myself.
I'm just trying to decide if I want company or if I want to be on my own. Either way I'll be pretty much just birding rather than touristy things, that will make it cheaper too.

Date: 2005-04-12 07:37 pm (UTC)In my car at a decent fuel economy, it's going to take around 240-250 litres. each way.
so that's around $300 (yeah, i allow a bit extra) just for the fuel!
Fly return is not much over $400 if even that much.
Although if you're talking about when you return in Nov, then you just have to find a hire company that allows the car to be dropped off 2400km away.
Hire is around $50-75 a day usually, depending on what you want. and it will take at least 3 days hire to drive to perth.
