have you heard about the binoculars with cameras attached to them? specificly for birders/sports fans?

Yep. I've also heard both the camera and binos lose quality because of it, but I don't know.
The best bet is a spotting scope with a camera attatchment - which is called digiscoping. Chris, the other assistant warden here has that kind of set up.
