Due in November
Mar. 12th, 2005 06:27 pmMy sister is pregnant again. I knew she was intending to try for another baby this year but I didn't think she meant this soon. It'll be born not long after I get home. I hope I get a neice this time. Karen might also have a bun in the oven then and Tao will be nearing 1 year old. Bloody kids everywhere!
And now for my rant. I don't inherently hate bugs. They are fascinating critters and each have their own place in the ecosystem. I just don't like them landing on me! Or buzzing right near my ear as the little mozzies around here are wont to do. The big guys like grasshoppers and katydids just fly straight into you and it sometimes hurts a little because the damn things are so big. Beetles take off and buzz right by my ear causing me to thrash around in a stupid manner trying to get rid of it.
And flies. Flies must be the dumbest creatures on earth. Why continue to land somewhere where you're constantly being disturbed by slapping or swishing hands or other instruments? There can't be any evolutionary imperitave to it. And the bloody flies that bite shit me the most. Down on the beach during migration watch I'm being regularly attacked by teeny little sandflies and frickin' huge march flies, as well as having regular flies just land on me and those damn whiny mozzies hovering near my ear or deciding I taste good. It's so not useful when I'm trying to focus on a line of birds way on the other side of the mudflats through a scope. I swish a fly and lose my spot, pain the arse.
I think it's time for me to break out the repellant (as nasty as it is) and my fly net for over my hat.
