Night before last we had a ripper of a storm during the night. 19.25mL of rain. I was in bed, curtains closed, eyes closed, sheet over my head and the lightning STILL hurt my eyes!

Because of that we had to wait until the afternoon to take the bus into town so the road could dry off as much as possible. It feels damn precarious to be driving that thing on a 45 degree angle on the road shoulder to avoid puddles. But I didn't bog or tip it, it was all good.

In the meantime the zucchini debate happened. Chris had what he swore was a cucumber in his salad. I took a look at it and said "That's a zucchini, not a cucumber." We spent all lunch debating over whether this long, green vegetable was a cucumber or a zucchini. Chris insists zucchinis are hairy, I have never ever seen a hairy cucumber. I often use zucchinis in my own cooking but dislike cucumber, and having worked in a supermarket for 5 years I know the different between even the various kinds of cucumber and zucchini. I almost took him up on a bet which would result in the loser doing the bird log for the first week after the Wader Study group return. I SO should have taken him up on it. Ricki dropped into the shadehouse and we asked her. She took a look at it and said "That's a zucchini." It was proved again later at Coles.

The rest of yesterday wasn't awfully exciting. I exchanged my CD player, the new one seems to working fine. It just sucks that the walls in this bloody donga are paper thin so everyone can hear the music no matter how quiet you have it. Damn.

No probs with the CD player. The guy plugged it in and tested it so he could see that it was doing nothing when switched to CD. So he just gave me a new one.

I am using headphones, they're just annoying because you can't move around.

mmm, wireless :)

maybe that would be a good investment anyway. not sure how much you need it.

either that or extension cables for headphones. you got a tandies/dick smith/other similar shop up there? otherwise i'm sure i can have a look about for you if you want.

We got a bastard of a storm the morning after that night. We had to tie down all the window covers. Despite that, I was outside on the hill watching it.

There was a one bolt of lightning right above the camp site that every body was talking about all day. Everyone remembered it because it was so bright that could see the flash of blue through the gaps in the window covers.

I remembered it because it so was so bright I couldn't see for several minutes.
