Today I had a severe bleed on my left lower arm and a fracture in my left lower leg.

And you know what? Nobody treated me and I went into a coma and DIED!

Hehe. First Aid role play is kinda fun. I wasn't treated because there weren't enough first aiders to casualties. The person that started treating me decided that another unconcious casualty was of a higher priority (which in real life he would be). Pity I decided to keel over and die a few minutes later. *grinz*

I now have my Senior Certificate of First Aid again. And I actually feel confident in what I've learned this time around. They've made it all easier and easier to remember and assured everyone that you can't do any more damage than what's already been done so you may as well give it a shot and maybe save a life.

Also paid particular attention to important stuff like heat stroke and venomous critters - they're what I'm most likely to come across in Broome.

The weather outside is now downright balmy - pity it's still pretty hot inside. Should improve as the sun goes down.

triage is a wonderful thing :)

yay!

I found out my result for this semester last night. I passed, but it was only a pass so i must have only just scraped through the exam.

I got my first P this semester. Quite deserved, I admit.

I also got the first HD that I feel I actually earned instead of being surprised by. (And if I got anything less I was going over that lecturer's house with a lynching noose, after what stress he put me through!)

Hee. I got to feel faint, and then keel over.

We didn't actually do triage at all--it was all one on one.

Bandaging fake gashes with fake glass sticking out of them was fun, though.

Oh yeah I fainted from heat exhaustion today as well.

The triage wasn't intentional. There were meant to be more first aiders than casualties but something stuffed up and there was one too few first aiders one time around.

when I was doing my senior first aid, I sure gave the person that was supposed to patch me up their money's worth... all the other victims were being dead calm... speaking from experience, that doesn't usually happen (I am a dead grumpy vocal bitch when I am in great pain - gawd help Drhoz when we decide to have kids). I moaned. I groaned. I whimpered. I was a great big wuss. They were supposed to be bandaging my arm up and such; and they got to know if they had not been gentle enough with my arm *hehehehheeh* I think they were quite relieved when I shut up once I was all patched up.

And when we were doing the coma positions, when it came to putting the blanket over the 'victim', someone stole my blanket; and there weren't any spare, so I grabbed all the coats from the nearest chair and spread them over the victim.. gotta improvise!!

I stole the bandange crate to elevate my casualty's leg.

She had a broken arm and severe bleed from the leg. She of course kept screaming about her arm but I did the leg first because a bad bleed will kill, a break won't.

I just told her to stop whinging and let me do the leg or she'd be dead an unable to feel her arm hurt anyway!

We also had one casualty let out an awful squeal at some point. That made everyone jump.
