They may be excessively adorable but they are SMELLY!

I think these guys (a litter of 4) must have been dumped because they are WAY too young to be away from the mother, but they are. *Growls at assholes who dumped them*

They aren't litter trained so they poop all over the pen. They don't know how to wash themselves and when eating they put front paws and faces and sometimes whole bodies into the food bowls (which have tinned kitten food made extra musky with water in them). That results in some pretty stinky kitties.

Maybe they all should follow "Dive Bomb's" example (named Dive Bomb by a fellow volly). They all climb the door of the cage they are in. One of them dropped off and landed in the water bowl.

Kittens normally get licked clean (everywhere) by their mother and this incites them to keep themselves clean when they get old enough. otherwise .... stinky kitties :(
you might have to take over that job, somehow, though not with your tongue!

what are they being fed tinned food for? especially at their age. kitten milk for their first several weeks and then raw natural foods!

see rawmeatybones and
barf for info on natural diets (taht don't make your pets smell)

mmm stinky kittens! hope they dont grow up to be too dysfunctional... sounds like they really need a foster home to get the extra attention they need and to ensure their survival...poor darlings :P
RSPCA keep calling me and asking me if I still want to volunteer. It's a poo that I live so far away now.

We just feed them what we're told to feed them.

Hills Science Diet donates pallets and pallets of food. They get mushy kitten food. I imagine due to their age that they will be fostered ASAP - where they will get better care.

Last year an animal rescue society of Turku found a litter of puppies in a molok -those huge underground things where you put recycleable metal, glass, paper and so forth- This litter of four was only two days old, one died soon after it was found, but the rest survived miraculously. So much for humans kindness :(.

I sympathize, and I strangely envy you. My two late cats were adoptees that had been dumped off at a Goodwill truck under the same circumstances: they were about three weeks old and were just starting to be able to handle solid food, but they had major problems with cleaning themselves. You haven't realized the limitations of kitten cleaning until one has all of the fur fall off his face due to the amount of food and crud that built up while you were at work.

Sorry: those two kittens died two years ago of old age, and there's not a day that I wouldn't do anything to get them back. As I said, I envy you.

Awww, 'tinky kitties! Does anyone have time to bathe them with washcloths or something?

I love when they're so teeny that they just tumble over for no apparent reason, and try to climb stuff, and writhe around in a big kitten pile in their sleep.

*wishes she could adopt them all*

I don't know if this would work or if it's possible, but could you maybe put a quiet female cat (if there is one) in with the kittens? Maybe they can pick up some of the habits they've not gained so far from her just from watching her.

hmm, when i was working there I was more confused by the apparent callousness of the people who dumped their animals. I worked with the doggies, and most of them were such cool, amazing, intelligent, loving creatures and I couldnt for the life of me understand why someone would want to part with them. I wanted to take them all home with me!
