I dreamt I was working at or visiting a farm/wildlife centre place. I heard a sound and realised there were two death adders and a rattler near me. I quickly walked away but the rattler chased and bit me on the wrist. I got to see a nurse and she looked at it and assured me the bite was bad but not much venomn had gone into me. I wasn't so sure. I was also thinking about how we don't get rattlers in Australia so I thought it was weird it being there.

I dreamt a few weeks ago that I got bitten by a tiger snake and no-one would help me. Again I didn't die, I was up and walking rather quickly once I realised I didn't feel that bad at all. No venomn?

So, what's it all mean?

There's a website I sometimes go to that has a search engine where you can enter in key things from your dream and it will tell you what they're supposedly symbolic of. Here's the link:

http://www.dreammoods.com

I'm not sure whether or not I believe in dream interpretation either, but it is interesting. Most of what's on the site looks like it's based on Freudian theory.

snakes can also have to do with temptation, though most dream dictionaries refer to them in relationships. if they bite you they do have significance in young single women, though from memory it is again referring to relationships and temptation, though the dictionaries I have seen are based on more "tradtional" old fashioned views

the best I found sofar is http://www.hyperdictionary.com/dream/snake
Seeing a snake or be bitten by one in your dream means hidden fears and worries that are threatening you. Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. The snake may also be seen as phallic and thus symbolize dangerous and forbidden sexuality. The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can't be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive changes.

however other definitions are (http://www.sleeps.com/dictionary/sss.html) Snake

A snake, being the ages old symbol of evil or satan, makes it a bad omen to have one show up in a dream. To see a lone snake and feel threatened by it shows that you have a bad enemy that is even then working against you, it also a warning against bodily harm from an enemy. To dream of many snakes in a pit is the foreboding of much bad luck in love or business. Should you overcome and kill a threatening snake in your dream shows that you will overcome your adversary and win out.

(http://www.petrix.com/dreams/animals.html) Snake A snake ready to strike means treachery from one you least expected; killing it means victory over enemies.

Those sort of interpretations are interesting because for me I don't associate snakes with evil. In the dreams I have known exactly what species I was seeing and they were just snakes, however it was a tad weird to have one chase me (snakes would much rather get away).

hhhmmm maybe it is a reference to treachery, but not where you least expect it. maybe you are waiting for it and choose to ignore it, maybe it is more from the first definition, again though something you are aware of or expect and you just dont want to credit it with the attention it desires

AWESOME!

God working out sex linked diseases in placentals is awkward enough and you only have 2 chromosomes to deal with (usually - there are many mutations that result in extra sex chromosomes), but with a platypus it must be a complete headache.

there is apparently more information in new scientist, check out their website. apparently the first two cromosones are similar to reptiles and the last two are similar to birds...

Yep.

Birds have W and Z chromosomes instead of X & Y and they work differently.

but see the reason scientists dont know much about the platypus is because everyone is still arguing if the plural is platypuses, platypi or platypodae

Oh wauw that's interesting about those chromosomes.

God another asshole making a dumb annonymous (sp?) remark.
Aren't you proud of yourself now?

Hey Gemfyre maybe you should just block those,or do you get annonymous (sp?) remarks from friends also?

I get comments from all types. Some anons are friends, some are unknowns.

If it really bugs me I'll delete or block it. That one just made me roll my eyes and promplty forget it.
