Dreams

Recently I've had two rather interesting dreams.

The first involved a storm.  A lightning bolt broke my bedroom window and zapped me.  I wasn't massively hurt I don't think, just in shock and worried that my stuff was getting wet due to the broken window.  Of course I had this dream when we were having storms, they almost cancelled a footy game due to threat of lightning strikes, and the most recent hurricane passed over Florida.

The next dream was just awesome.  I was somewhere (Singapore I think, God knows why it was Singapore, never been there!) and I think I was birdwatching.  I was approached by some team and asked if I wanted to work for them.  The work consisted of just sitting out in the wilderness and watching birds and mammals, and recording their behaviour.  That was pretty much it.  That would be the perfect job methinks.

Morons on the road

Monday afternoon driving to my parents.  For a while I was behind a car.  I this car were two unrestrained toddlers.  The brake lights didn't work and they were often speeding.  Hey at least they indicated correctly!

RSPCA

Bear is back!! She must have just been in the hospital or something. She's smoochy as ever, I so want to take her home. I ended up with a mouthful of kitty hair and drool again when she was giving kisses and nuzzles and climbing me. *grinz*

Also bathed a couple of cats! We started right around the time I had to leave but I helped with two of them. We had to give all the cats in recievals and ringworm medication bath. With 4 of us it wasn't too hard (two to restrain, one to wipe with ringworm med and one to towel them down. The second cat however was a velcro cat, claws sticking into everything. It was good to be able to do something new. Never bathed an adult cat before.

To Do

Check water in car
Ring Royal Show - "Look, we've had so many enquiries I'm not taking anyone else right now." As if it was horrible that so many people were ringing. Bugger. I really would have liked to do that too.
Shower
Wash jeans
Write some essay
Do MORE essay.
Finish Piney Lakes plan, transfer to disk and put the disk in my bag
Write this LJ entry
Wash dishes
Buy milk
Put new rego sticker on car

The MLP Trading Post is an endless source of morons and idiots.  The latest is a girl who calls herself "ponyfeatherz".

For starters, Sel pleaded with her to change her nick right off the bat because she had used the name Ponyfeathers for years and didn't want things to be confused.  It's okay, Sel writes intelligently, this ponyfeatherz (yes, little p, we'll get to that) writes like an utter moron.  She refused to change her nick anyway.

Her latest thing is whinging about how she couldn't get a dog because her house lacked a fence (it being an apartment).  Maybe a reasonable enough whinge, except that she's after a boisterous golden retriever.  Everyone tells her if she only has an apartment that a retriever is a bad idea and she should research breeds more suitable but of course she ignores all that, or calls the advice givers "meanies" as these types always do.

ponyfeatherz doesn't use capital letters, she doesn't punctuate either.  Her posts are one long run on sentence in all lower case (I suppose that marginally better than all caps).  People tell her that it's extremely hard to read these posts.  Of course, she pretty much ignores them.  We just got this...

im sorry my posts are so hard to read but im not very good at punctuation anyway im not against getting a puppy or a mutt or another breed of dog i just really want to adopt Bear

Not very good?  Well... try?  At least.

I couldn't help but reply.  Snarky disguised as helpful, I know.

Read what you've written.

If when reading you take a short breath, put one of these (,) there - it's called a comma.

If you take a long breath put one of these (.) there - it's called a full stop.

I thought people learned this in school?

She replied that I was rude.  Maybe so.  Others replied that I was trying to be helpful (which is also true, I figured if I let her know the absolute basics she might be able to grasp that at least) and that it was more rude to write in long run on sentences that gave people a headache to read.

And whaddyaknow!  She plays the learning disability card!  *yay!*

Now.  These days it seems learning disabilities are like ADD and depression.  EVERYONE seems to have one of these ailments and throw it around as an excuse to be an asshole or a moron.  Why do people bother go to school if they have such a bad "learning disability" that they can't manage to grasp as basic a concept as the full stop?  (I admit, explaining the comma might have been pushing it).  It's not hard.  I'd like to know how such a rampant brain problem that causes people to just not absorb ANY of the basic spelling and grammar lessons works and came to be.  It seems to be a case of "Oh, someone once told me I had a learning disability so I'll use that as an excuse to bug everyone and cry and call people meanies when they call me out on it or try to teach me a little."

*prays for the reintroduction of natural selection*

She does realise that if she keeps this up people are going to stop reading her entries right?
I can see it now, 20 entries from now "why aren't you guys listening to me all i've done is been nice to you and blah blah blah blah and you're all such meanies and blah blah"

Oh wait, did I use an apostraphy? Does she use them?? lol

Oh this is the Trading Post. There will always be morons around to humour other morons. Hence our chronic troll problem that I've bitched about previously.

Yes, she pisses me off too. Like I was telling Cosmos, she once had me resize her sig image for her. Well the idiot was linking to it from my temporary "blinkie" folder where I put stuff I resize. I'm not mean, I offer people *free* hosting on my site, I just don't like them linking in my folders, because when I go and delete it, they complain (like she did.) So yes of course I do a clean-up and delete the file, thinking I showed it to her months ago, she's sure to have seen it by now. I got an email from her about a week later complaining her sig wasn't working. I replied to the email explaining how my temp folder wasn't for hosting images, and how she'd have to delete the link and host it elsewhere. She replied saying she would move it. So today, looking at the post I notice she's *still* linking to my temp folder, of course there's a broken image icon, because the pic is not actually there. Got me thinking though - if I was mean I could replace the graphic with something witty, a big huge penis comes to mind, or a blinking/flashing "moron" sign. But no I'd probably get into trouble, the mods know thats my site.

Her and her dire lack of knowledge of the English language reminds me of someone else. Garej... she doesn't play the "learning disability" card, in fact she professes to be uber-smart when in fact she's not. If you've not noticed, Garej has a complete inability to use the word "a" - EVERY time she refers to a singular object, she uses the word "an" regardless of the initial sound of the word in question. In the time I was unfortunate enough to know her personally, I brought this question up with her. She says "It's because English is not my first language" which is a load of bollocks. She comes from Wales not Timbucktoo! Last time I checked, English was the first language in Wales. Her parents speak English, she told me that they don't know Welsh! So yes she went to school and learned Welsh from being 5 years old or whatever. But thats no different to some schools teaching their kids French from an early age, or in fact any school in Europe teaching English right from the outset. It doesn't make the language your first language. Your first language is what you start mumbling as a baby, the language you learn to speak BEFORE you start school. If her parents didn't speak Welsh, I fail to see where she managed to get Welsh as her first language from.

Gah I hate morons...

That habit of Garej pisses me off too. I mean, she's had the rule explained to her, why does she continue to ignore it?

This is what I don't get about ANYONE who claims they can't spell/write properly. Someone just TOLD you how to do it! Just follow simple instructions! gah!

you want morons, work here!!

besides the point though.

a kids I knew in school had speech problems, and even though he had endured years of speech thearpy, he was still difficult to understand. the problem was that you had to listen to him, really listen.

in school though he got quickly iscolated. kids found him harder to befriend because they wouldn't take the time to listen to him and teachers avoided asking him questions in class because, well buggered if they knew if he had the answer right.

he got held down a year in school and labled dumb, because it was the easiest thing to do. the scary thing was that out of him and his 3 older siblings, he was by far the most intelligent. certainly he had the accademic ablility, but if you met him the proof was not their orally.

the thing is because he was labled as dumb, by high school he got fed up with trying to dis-proove people. he accepted the lable and as far as I know now does little with his life.

the point is: there are no such thing as learning disabilities, just learnt disabilities
