First forays with the breadmaker and... success!!

I was a little worried when it didn't beging mixing right away.  It just sits for 20 minutes or so, I don't know why, the yeast can't get to work unless it's mixed in.

It looks great on the inside, a few lumpy bits outside.  And when I tipped it out of the tin the mixing blade was firmly embedded in the loaf.  That took some coaxing to get out.  That's the only bad thing about bread makers, that damn hole in the bottom of the loaves.

Well, I can make 3 more loaves with the mix I bought.  All good.

Congratulations on the bread success! I just made some banana bread, and it was delish. Even though it was a nearly foolproof recipe (basically Bisquik, nuts, and smashed banana) I was very proud of myself :)

If you dont already add a small egg to the mix. makes a big difference to the taste, much softer.
I guarantee within 4 months it will be banished to the back of the cupboard though!! Mine is along with everyone else I know who bought them!!!!

I dunno, I have long term love affairs with my kitchen appliances (but the breadmaker is a loan, so I may have to give it back sometime).

Matt's mum never buys bread anymore. Every night she puts on a loaf to bake and it gets eaten the next day. They also hardly ever buy veges because they have a large garden. But then again, they've lived in the country most of their lives.

Ah yes, they also have chickens for eggs.

The mix I've used so far is pre-prepared. You just add water and yeast.
