Date: 2004-07-05 08:51 am (UTC)He usually gets lumped with the thrillers alongside Stephen King but his stuff is really varied, but yeah, they do all have edge-of-your-seat moments and weird stuff happening.
Admittedly most of his books are pretty formulaic but that's great because you don't have to think much while you read them. The good guys always win, they're usually warm and fuzzy in the end. I just like 'em. And his more recent stuff is way better than his really early stuff.

The Dark Crystal is a brilliant movie released in 1982 and featuring Jim Henson creations.

Date: 2004-07-06 09:17 am (UTC)I'm not Christian - I don't ascribe to any religion, but I do believe in a God and that Jesus was an awesome man. I just really like JoC lyrics and music and stuff.
My b/f is Christian (you'd never guess) and he introduced me to them.

Date: 2004-07-10 11:00 am (UTC)And I'm interested in what "meterology" and "microbiolgy" are. (I copy pasted them...)
And what do you mean by taxonomy?
so there you go... not one but five!

Date: 2004-07-10 11:06 am (UTC)Epidemiology - the study of diseases and how they spread pretty much.
Ethology - the study of animal behaviour.
Meterology - the study of weather patterns.
Microbiology - the study of microscopic organisms (viruses, bacteria, unicellular eukaryotes etc.) - now you want to know what a eukaryote is don't you?
Taxonomy - this one tends to have various specific meanings. For me it's pretty much classifying organisms. Instead of being with bears the koala belongs with marsupials. The giant and red pandas may be more closely related to racoons than bears but more research needs to be carried out. There's all these schools of thought about how organisms should be classified and it just ties my head in knots.

Date: 2004-07-11 03:07 am (UTC)Taxonomy does mean what I thought it did... in my degree it's all about Bloom's Taxonomy (http://www.nwlink.com/~donclark/hrd/bloom.html is a good overview)
