Losing weight
Mar. 4th, 2004 08:38 pmI need to do so, less and less jeans and shorts are fitting me comfortably and I don't like it.
I don't eat really badly, I see a squillion people that eat shockingly worse than I do. About the worst I do is fish and chips every friday but my breakfast consists of cereal and juice 99% of the time and lunch is often a sandwich with avacado, meat, cheese, tomato, mushroom, lettuce, mustard and mayo. Dinner varies but is healthy, except for said fish and chips.
I AM always hungry, which sucks. My body obviously doesn't need the extra kilojoules but my stomach still demands to be fed and I usually try to feed it what it wants, which can be anything from salad to chips and chocolate (although of course I do try to avoid these, but I don't deny them to myself).
And then there's the problem of exercise. I know I need more, must walk to post office and Lake Monger and just around. Pity it's unsafe to walk after dark when time is often available and the sun isn't beating down. It would be nice to have someone near me who was also keen on walking every day so we could egg each other on. And then there's the problem of me being unfit. I exert myself slightly and all of a sudden I'm exhausted and sometimes dizzy or faint and usually hungry again - vicious circle.
If I could afford it I'd join a gym and do all this properly. But the cost is prohibitive.
*sigh*

Date: 2004-03-04 09:44 am (UTC)'avacado, meat, cheese, tomato, mushroom, lettuce, mustard and mayo' that is actually quite fattening! Cheese is REALLY fattening, and mayo is too. Meat can also be quite a few points, i think.
The points diet really makes you realise how much fat is in certain foods that you usually do not think about!
I didn't mean to sound critical, there, but just thought I'd point it out so you know!
For exercise I have been going swimming twice a week and aquarobics once a week (but the class I go to is a really energetic one compared to others). Maybe you could ease into exercise by doing something like this? Lots of things are good exercise but also fun and not too strenuous :)
xxx hope you do get on track and manage to get fit&healthy like you're wanting!

Date: 2004-03-04 12:28 pm (UTC)YES so right.
Cheese is 2/3rd FAT.
Mayo is soooo bad and a lot of meats have lots of fat also.
Chickenfilet and stuff like that are much better than other meats.

Date: 2004-03-05 01:07 am (UTC)I joined Renaissance for a year, and actually went regularly for seven months or so... all in all, I only lost 5-6 kg though, and it's all back on now plus extra. (yayness.) I actually had biceps for a while, but--that was fun ;)
You also have to keep an eye on carbohydrates, and sugars, because of course they get converted to fat if we eat more energy than we need... I think that's why the fad diets tend to be "highfat-lowcarb" or "highcarb-lowfat".
I doubt I'll see you at karaoke tonight unfortunately... I wanna go, but I was up at 5am this morning and I'm falling asleep already. And I have a 6am start tomorrow, so if I did come I'd have time to sing one song and that'd be it. :( :(
Earlies suck. Next week depends on next Sat's roster, so I dunno yet.
Are y'all going to Zanzibar Tuesday (was it?) as well? Cos maybe I can find my way down there instead...
