Started at RSPCA today.

Bleach gives you headaches and makes you dizzy.

My pink shirt now has bleached spots all over it, ah well.

The kitties are extremely cute as usual. There was a torti called Jeri and a ginger named Billy who were the most beautiful smoodgy kitties. If I had the right house I would sooo adopt them.

Now I must get lunch and wash all this crap off me.

LOL well bleach will give you headaches! But if you drink it it causes brain damage! I would have never thought that I thought it would be gastrointestinal problems not effect your brain. So I can only imagine what the fumes are doing to the brain! LOL

Being a hair stylist for ever (not any more) so many of my clothes were ruined by bleach. I just went out and bought a rainbow pack of 12 dif color sharpees and filled in the bleach spots! it works and they even have pink!

Sharpie markers are great!
When I had an art class I always ended up with white paint on my black pants...the only thing I could think of to save them was covering up the paint with marker.

What a wonderful job, be sure to wear old clothes!
It would be hard for me not to adopt every kitty in sight!

You use bleach to clean out the cages.

I'm volunteering, 99% of RSPCA workers are volunteers, about the only paid people are the vets.

When I find someone who knows what settings I need in CuteFTP photos will be uploaded again.

At the moment I am clueless. :(

I liked volunteering at the Shenton Park Animal Refuge better than at RSPCA. The SPAR ranks all the animals with whether they are aggressive with other dogs, or boisterous etc. They also rank all dog walkers and you can go up when you have more experience. I think it all works very well because you don't end up with people walking dogs that are too much work for them. They also have different coloured leads for the dogs that are aggressive with other dogs so that people know not to let dogs too near to them. All very organised.

Plus the people who do all the cleaning and feeding are paid staff, all the volunteers do is walking.

*does a dance just because*

Ah. I just work in cats. Dogs are noisy and boisterous and stinky. Cats so much nicer to work with, only gotta worry about claws. :)

Due to lack of resources, unfortunately the RSPCA has to euthanise animals that are agressive or have severe behavioural problems and will not be rehomed successfully. As the Volunteer Supervisor told us, if the animal has developed severe behavioural problems from being abused or kept in such a small space around so many other dogs for a long time, it's fairer to euthanise it than keep it in that torture. There are just too many unwanted animals. :(

I sooooo wish I could adopt a few cats. I will certainly be looking for a cat friendly place to move into once the lease runs out here.
