Am I brave enough to do a panel?
Apr. 6th, 2010 08:49 pmJust before Swancon this year I came up with ideas for two panels. One has absolutely no focus and probably will never happen. One is a simple "Best of". But during the con I revisted an idea that popped up at GenghisCon - a panel on VHEMT. THIS I can talk on for an hour. Heck, I could go on longer. It's something I feel passionate about, it's the reason I got off the fence and became truly childfree (at least when it comes to biological children - If I ever DID feel the urge to have a child, there is no shortage of children seeking adoption and foster care).
The VHEMT website is beautifully written. It is essentially one long FAQ. Discussion of the overpopulation issue is an almost taboo subject and a lot of people get immediately offended when they hear about VHEMT, mostly because they have no idea what it's actually about.
So, to narrow this FAQ down to one hour, I figured I'd pose the question to people in general, to find out which questions were most important to people.
So, I pose the question I just wrote in Facebook...
"If I was to do a panel about VHEMT (Voluntary Human Extinction Movement), one of the main bits would be answering the "FAQ". The website answers almost any question you could think of eloquently, but it's way more than an hour's worth. So... what questions would YOU ask?"
