Writer's Block: Early Birds, Night Owls

It depends on the day. If there is a good birdwalk on I'd rather get up early and attend it. But then I'd rather be able to go to bed early the night before or be able to take an afternoon nap when I get home.
I've recently come to the conclusion that no matter how much sleep I get, if I have to wake up to an alarm the next morning and go somewhere I don't want to go (like work), I'll be tired, so I don't worry about when I get to bed. I'm usually there between 10:30 and midnight anyway simply because that's when I get tired in the evening.
If it's cold and I'm up after 1am and I'm not prepared for it, I'll turn into a cranky monster. Heck, I'll probably turn into a monster even if it's warm.
And unless I'm sick or some other weird circumstance, I'm usually up by 8:30 anyway. I can't stand wasting the day.
