May. 21st, 2003 06:17 pmI'm possibly getting my own computer soon. Which is the first major hurdle in moving out of home.
The second major hurdle is finding some people to live with who are willing to network computers and share internet costs, who will help keep the house clean and tidy, and who I can get along with.
Anyone out there fit the criteria??

Date: 2003-05-21 03:50 am (UTC)I use a mac, so the networking might be a problem (unless you get a mac..), but more importantly I am not tidy, I don't see mess, I have the ability to step over mess and not see it...
Good luck with finding people though, there are some out there..:)

Date: 2003-05-23 03:14 am (UTC)Not owning a fridge, or being able to pay the rent or worrying about whether you will be able to afford to eat, but owning a computer?
Damn, and I though I was a geek.
Mind you, I have owned my own computer for the last 10 years.
Personally I would rate your second statement as the most pressing need.
I could live without most of the things I would want in a household (not need, want) and not really mind, since I can work towards them later.
But personality clashes can really mess with your life. And when you are locked into a six month lease.... arrgghhh! Bad housemate choices are one of the few times I have had stress bad enough to affect my health.
I suspect you are in no rush to move out, but I would wait until you fid some people you know you can live with, even if it takes a year.

Date: 2003-05-24 11:55 pm (UTC)Yeah fridges and stuff are important too, but a quick look in the Quokka can have you all you need for a couple of hundred bucks.
I will need a computer to do my work (and I have to be online or I will die). And it now seems I have secured one! I just have to raise another $200. Then I can start working towards the other stuff I will need.
