Mmm pie

Seems to be more fun going on lately. Last night us Assistant Wardens hijacked the chalet for the evening (it wasn’t booked so it was fine, as Chris said, “It’s not as if we’re gonna leave the mess for someone else to clean up.”) The chalet bathroom is a lot nicer and the water there is HOT, so we used it. There were 3 main goals for the night.

1. Make Guinness Pie. We took great liberties with the recipe – both ingredient and cooking method wise (of course, it still contained a bottle of Guinness Stout, probably didn’t need the bottle actually, we ended up using spoons to eat it). It had kangaroo instead of beef and added potatoes and mushrooms. Chris made the pastry from scratch, used a dessert pastry recipe and just omitted the sugar, and didn’t make enough of it (even after we decided just to cover the top of the pie). It actually would have been more successful with dumplings instead of a sheet of pastry. Anyway, in the end it tasted fine (although the overwhelming beerness got to me eventually, I like beer in cooking, but you can overdo it). After pie we ate chocolate and drank Baileys (well the guys had Kahlua too).

2. Colour our hair. As I mentioned before, we each grabbed a hair colour – the kind that stays for about 8 washes. Stu got “Violet Vixen”, Chris got “Brazen Blue” and I got “Roxy Rouge”. Because I know a rinse red in my hair will look shiny, but nothing shocking I tried to trade colours, I especially wanted to try the blue (once I get home I’m very tempted to stick a blue-black through my hair for a while to see what it’s like). Neither would trade. However I got lucky, because Stu and Chris have so little hair they had colour left over, and Stu attacked me with all THREE colours. You can’t really tell. My hair looks all shiny and highlighted, but you can’t see the different colours. The main thing is to see Ricki do a double-take when she notices it on the guys. They have the day off so it won’t be as effective. I just think they really wanted to colour their hair.

3. Do an MP3 swap. Well, we didn’t do any actual swapping tonight, but we did play each other selections from our collections, so we had music all night. That was cool.

All in all a good night was had by all.

Just need to get Chinatown Spice, and my collection is complete.

I will be clean for 2 years. Then I will get the mail order catalogue to buy more.
