Last night I experienced the most awesome phenomenon. In the east the sky was ablaze with lightning while the stars twinkled overhead. Not just the odd flash but constant sheets and horizontal bolts lighting up the sky on that horizon. The eerie thing was that there was no thunder. The way that lightning was flashing there should have been a constant rumble but it was silent.

Fucking awesome, I just stood with my mouth hanging open for a while. So that's why I suffered an inordinate amount of bugs in the shower last night.

The first half of today was slow and boring. But after Ricki and Chris returned from the Gravel Pit we had lunch then I got a reprieve for the afternoon. We all sat around at Ricki's place and watched the first two episodes of The Life Of Birds than sat around for a bit...

Then went to the mangroves! Walking in that mud reminds me of ice skating, but it isn't as bad as it could be, the mud around the entrance to Crab Creek isn't TOO deep, and once you're through the start there's a large patch of much firmer sand. Not much in the way of birds, heard the white-breasted whistler and broad-billed flycatcher but didn't see either. But just the walk and seeing all the crabs and other stuff was great. The mangrove trunks are covered in barnacles.

This Koontz book is really good, I'm over a 3rd through it already. MUCH better than The Taking.

I'm hungry, but I'll go online first and do a few things.
