I'm in a squee mood for some reason.
Feb. 4th, 2006 03:12 pmWell, I did my good deed for the day. I stopped at Madora Beach for lunch, and as I was leaving a Commodore pulls up. Two guys and a girl get out, light up cigarettes, let their dog out of the car and proceed to climb the fence and tramp over the dunes to get to the beach. About 5 metres away is a path to the beach and a sign saying "Dogs prohibited". Right near where they climbed the fence is another sign about how the dunes are protected.
I left a slip of paper under their windscreen wiper - "Dogs prohibited. Dunes protected. Please learn to read." I felt good about it. I don't doubt they would have dropped their cigarette butts in the dunes or on the beach.
Open letter to smokers
How many of you have dropped butts anywhere but and ashtray or bin? C'mon, be honest. Did you realise that every time you do that you are dumping toxic waste and creating a fire hazard? Feel proud of yourself?
And most of it have known about it for a long time but I now officially diagnose "Commodore Disease". Def. : The inability to drive properly and politely caused by getting behind the wheel of a Holden Commodore or closely related vehicle. Symptoms include speeding, tailgating, weaving through traffic, littering, impatience, lack of indicating and being just plain stupid on the roads.
