Well, today it decided to rain. Probably because I have washing on the line - now I have very few clothes. Hopefully I can get into town ASAP and buy a clothes airer so I can dry things in my room - a lot more reliable.

Don't get me wrong, it HAS rained pretty much every afternoon since I got here. But this was more than the usual brief shower - this was a full on downpour for at least half an hour - probably longer. Lucky it held off mostly until we got back from a walk down at the salt flats. Just got refreshing showers along there. Got a few newies. Mangrove herons skulking about, watched a juvenille sitting in a tree for a while. Pacific golden plovers in decent numbers. Mangrove grey fantail - when he flew by I immediately though "Pardalote'. They are so tiny! No yellow chats. :(

Spent the afternoon in wet clothing and stinking. I've managed to hang all my wet clothes around my room but I will have to deal with damp clothes by my bed for a bit until they dry - they were truly sopping when I brought them in. Clothes airer is a high priority on my list.

Later in the afternoon Ricki got us cleaning the extra bathrooms. These have been closed over summer and are full of lovely things like pindan dirt, leaves, spiders, frog shit and mummified frogs. Got the majority done today, the place is usable again now, just need to do the bench and floors. I got truly sweaty and stinky and wet though - no hoses so cleaning the walls involves filling buckets and throwing them, which results in a lot of wetness if you have to do the backs of doors in small cubicles. Ah it was fun, even if I did get a bloody fly up my nose. The shower after was even better. That's the thing about this dirty work. At the end you can take a shower and feel human again.

Got my first heat/strain headache today. Felt it slightly on the walk this morning and after cleaning the bathrooms it came on fully. Ibuprofen is my friend. :) Had a nectarine for dessert tonight that tasted great but almost had the texture of an apple - that was kinda wrong.

Tomorrow if it rains I will be going on a lakes tour with our guests! (yay!) If it doesn't rain Chris will be going on a wader tour with them and I will be stuck cleaning the rest of the bathrooms and maybe starting on the shadehouse/kitchen and discovering what's available in there. I think my cooking will be getting very simple and experimental, with no easy way to reheat stuff and a dodgy oven that is possibly best not used. I've given up on a pasta bake and will make a modified stovetop version instead - I need to use the veggies I bought for it. If I do end up going out tomorrow Chris gets stuck with the dirty work. We flipped a coin to decide who gets to go where because we both preferred the lakes tour - but we'll both get our chances.

Seeing as I'll possibly be up VERY early tomorrow I should go to bed soon.

God the Divacup and Travelmates are going to make up here sooooo much more pleasant. No rubbish at that time of month and everything else (I should post this in VagPag not here!) I also used the travelmate last night when I woke up busting to go but I couldn't be stuffed walking to the toilets. Brilliant!
