Singing lessons

gemfyreAs you know I'm nowhere near a professional singer but I can hold a tune and am a karaoke nut.
Friday I sang a new song - Somewhere Only We Know by Keane. After I'd finished Kate, another regular there comes up to me and tells me I nailed the song.
And I did - except for one part. At the end of the choruses the line "Somewhere only we know" is repeated and sung differently. I screwed it up and to me at least it just sounded off.
I was just singing in the shower (no-one home) and practicing and I could hear the damn line in my head but for the life of me could only sing it the second way.
I shall be listening to the song and practicing lots methinks. This is really bugging me. I WILL nail this song.
