Back in high school I was a massive Bon Jovi fan. After These Days I lost interest, they were trying to hard to be angsty like it was the new cool and sucking at it. They should have stuck with good ol' 80s hair rock.

Anyway, today I heard on the radio that they were touring Australia again soon and the woman on the radio shat me off by doing something that has bugged me ever since I became a Bon Jovi fan back when I was 13.

She referred to Bon Jovi as "he" instead of "them". Gah. Bon Jovi is the band people!! A band with 4/5 members. JON Bon Jovi is a person, the lead singer (and namesake) of said band. Jon Bon Jovi has also had a brief solo career (as has Richie Sambora, the guitarist in the band - check out his first solo album Stranger In This Town - it's awesome).

So yeah, that's my gripe for the day.

It's the same with Jethro Tull - some announcers seem to think that Ian Anderson is Jethro Tull.

I would suggest to you that Jon Bon Jovi is an egomaniac. Same with the John Butler Trio, and other bands named after their lead singer. Its just ego food. Jon Bon Jovi wants announces to say 'he' rather than 'they'.

When bands are named after a lead singer it is sometime hard for people to distinguish between a band and a lead singer. Hell it took me two albums before I realised the band was an entity rather than a singer with a band.
Also depending how it sounded on the radio, she could've been talking about "him" because he has more status in pop culture than the rest of the band and therefore people with limited knowledge of the music will be able to connect the dots.
