All She Wants To Do Is Dance
Aug. 5th, 2009 09:04 pmI like the city and Northbridge. I just can't stand the parking. Either you have to park miles away, or you have to pay a fortune and hope to God you have some coin on you. And at nighttime you don't want to be walking too far.
Anyway. So tonight I tried the taster classes at Sugar Blue Burlesque lounge. I'd never heard of the place before, but it was an event that came up on Facebook and I thought, what the hell.
I wasn't sure if I'd get to the Bellydance class in time after peak-hour and having to park miles away, but I was only about 5 minutes late so I tried it. Yeah, I could get into that. I kept reverting back to the rumba figure-8 hip-swivel instead of the circular movement you're meant to do for belly dancing.
Charleston - this looks awesome and is really fun. But my knees doth protest. I wasn't able to do all the steps properly because the twisting motion was just all bad on my dodgy knee.
Go-Go was fun too. But towards the end of that I was getting really tired and the balls of my feet were aching. I am so un-co, I can't get foot and arm movements to go together properly. And weirdly the two simplest steps were the two I couldn't get. I'm thinking to myself, "What's your problem? That is so simple." But nope, my feet and hands wouldn't do the right thing. Nevermind.
It was good fun and good exercise.
I then got dinner at a weird Japanese place that did crepes and ices and stuff. Got an unagi crepe, which was tasty, and a mango bubble tea. I'm still not quite sure what I think of the chewy bits in bubble tea.
