The lunch is a lie

No, really, I AM getting work done. Honest. There just isn't really much on my plate yet.

Yes, lunch. Apparently I'm meant to get an hour lunch? Hah. If I'm bringing my own I heat it up in the staff kitchen and eat it at my desk while continuing to answer the phone if it rings. I guess if I was buying lunch elsewhere I'd be able to piss off for the full hour, but it feels bad buggering off when I'm needed.

I feel a bit like Pepper Potts, unfortunately my boss isn't a sexy superhero, just a boring old barrister. There's this guy and he needs sorting out, and it's my job to do it.

That makes me so mad. If you work an 8 hour day, and work through your lunch hour, you are volunteering for 1/8 pay cut. There's pressure to do that at my work (probably more than half the hospital staff does it) but they also occasionally take long lunches off-site, which kind of makes up for it, I guess.
