Mum and Dad we're heading to Auntie Laine's in the morning for breakfast and to pick up Nan. At pretty much the last minute we decided we'd pop over too to say hello, Padbury isn't that far away from where we live now.
The house there has changed. Again. That house has had so many changes and renovations since they first moved in in about 1985. The latest change was a complete makeover for the back patio. It's very nice.
Seeing as we'd already eaten we didn't have too much of the breakfast on offer, but we did dip in a bit. Fresh fruit, bacon, free-range eggs (they DO taste better) with hollandaise sauce, porterhouse steak, crossiants, the hugest bloody prawns you have ever seen in your life. It was great to see cousins and aunts and uncles as well. I always like to catch up with Bree and Russell.
Then we headed over to Mum and Dad's. This is where Christmas was for the kids. Although Shell implied that she was enjoying the toys almost more than Charlotte and Lachie. :)
Lunch was turkey, ham, cranberry sauce, and various yummy salads - of which Matt liked only one, while I was busy scoffing all of them. Followed up with Vienetta, apricot cheesecake, trifle, strawberries and cherries.
Eventually Craig and Matty arrived so the present exchange could begin. Lachie got a book of "The Old Woman Who Swallowed A Fly" from Mum and Dad. Classic story! He also got The Very Hungry Caterpillar from me, another kiddie classic, and he loved his train whistle.
So, what did I get?
From Mum & Dad - A ceramic tagine, a salad spinner, some knickers, a calendar with African Animals (when we were kids we always got an orange and a balloon, now we get a calendar) and a book about birds. Charlotte loved looking at the photos of the birds and telling me all the colours.
From Shell - $20 towards my Shun knives.
From Craig & Matty - A cruet set with nice olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
From Matt - it's coming. I have to get his pressie too.
Dinner was more of the same. Eventually kids fell asleep, people went home, we went home.
