I just did my first ever claw trim. On a cat that didn't really like it, but didn't really care enough to struggle too much. Lil was too busy sitting in the sun and purring and doesn't mind getting her paws played with either.
She only started to really protest on number 9 when she "bit" me (I put that in " " because it wasn't very hard at all). I think I can take off a bit more nail and be safe, but for now I've taken off the sharp tips - we'll see how that goes.
She does insist on scratching everything BUT the scratching post. It seems almost reflexive, if her paws touch a certain material she'll immediately start to claw at it.

The Lillycat lounging in the sun on some of her best work. Who needs an electronic document shredder when you have a cat? Lucky there's a steady source of junkmail to keep her occupied.
