Whiteman Park is only a hop, step and a jump away from Koondoola and Lightning Swamp bushlands - both of which have diverse wildlife and birdlife. :D I love Whiteman Park, it's western-most tip is walking distance from my house...that is, if you include 50 minutes walking one way to be 'walking distance.'
