Anyone know anything about Clarion 6 stacker CD players.

I've noticed the stacker is alot more sensitive than my personal CD stereo (which I got in 1993). So I decided to see if my CD of Vitalogy would play in it. This CD is riddled with shallow scratches but still plays fine in my old player. So I wanted to see how it would do in the car player.

Bad move. It got to that CD, now the readout in the car keeps saying Error and I can't eject the CD cartridge.

Anyone know what I can do short of pulling it all apart, cuz I don't think I'd be able to put it back together. I want my music (and my CDs back!)

this happened to us multiple times with our cd player in our mercury villager.

things you can do: take it back to where you got it and complain. If you got it by buying it from someone or it was given to you: go to a dealership (maker of your car), and complain. They should fix it for you...and hopefully it wont cost too much :) I got my cd back :) in tact too! and my mother's cd's were fine as well.

hrm
I bought the car second hand out of the newspaper and it had the player in it, it's not the standard stereo for the car either, the previous owner had put it in.

I'm thinking that may be a better bet.

First however I will go to geeky friends who know about stuff like this :)

Let me and Matt ponder over it tonight when you're here... it's hard to offer my 2 cents when I have no idea what the stacker looks like (I've never seen one up close before).

As a side note, if you want to play old cds like that but think they have too many scratches you could always try copying them to a blank cdr while you're here - do you know if cdrs will play in the cd player?

can you get the actual player out?
majority of the clarions i sell and fit have a manual eject bit on the back, however if its one where the front flips down to reveal the cd bit, you generally need a set of keys.
Then again you might have a totally differant type of unit, but thats what i deal with, so hope i've been a tiny bit of use... probably not though

More info??

It has a flip down door on the front that reveals the CD cartridge. There is an eject button there but at the moment it only causes the player to take CD4 back in then spit it back into the "play" position.

I'll have a feel around the back of the unit and see if I can find a button. Or hope a car stereo place can fix it for free or cheap.

theres one model where you can hold the eject button down along with play and it spits the cds out, but i haven't dealt with these models for a while, so i'm guessing they are a fair age.

on the sides of some theres a like a small 'runner' pushing that forward ejects the whole lot

you know what would be a lot easier; tell me which model it is, and i'll know where the manual eject is!

anyways, hopefully that'll be of some use!

I don't know what model it is, I don't even have the instructions. The previous car owner said he'd drop them by but never did *sigh*
