This is very cool.

Sure, many people are too squeamish or religious to look but I think it's bloody fascinating.

I've seen so many sliced/plastinated/preserved animals at the vet museum at uni, but now we finally get to see PEOPLE.

The actual website of the exhbit.

Because the human body is sacred or some shit and should become landfill instead of educating people... apparently.

Now that's cool.
I just don't grok the problem. know what the problem is, understand why they feel this way, but can not see the point.

Not to mention, what's the religious problem? The body is but a shell after death... so why waste the shell?
It's not like it's disrespectful, nor is it harming the atman (the part of you that is you, the part that theoretically continues after death... soul is another name) so why shouldn't people see what the body is, stripped of life?

That would be interesting to see...but the pregnant woman would probably be upsetting to me. There have been a lot of times I've thought about going into forensic science. But I know that I would not be able to handle it if I had to deal with children, babies, or pregnant women. I would get too emotionally involved I think. I don't have a problem turning that association swith off with adults though. Weird.

I would really like to see that. I'm a religious person, but I don't see why a body can't be used for learning more. After all, like someone already said, the body is only a shell after death. There's no more use for it. And I don't remember reading anything in the Bible about anybody HAVING to be buried or burned after they die. I'd have to go look it up, but I just don't recall anything about that. So, yeah. I have no problem with this. I think it's neat.

This reminds me of a movie I saw ages ago late night on tv. It was a movie where med students where deliberatly killing humans that were dying anyway to put on displays like the ones they are talking about in this exhibit.
