I need to find a new circle of friends.
Apr. 17th, 2004 12:43 amPeople that have the same ambitions and ideals as I do.
Sure I don't want to abandon the old - but I REALLY need some people I can relate to.

Date: 2004-04-16 10:18 pm (UTC)I sleep from about 10pm to 6am most days.
Most of the people I know are computer geeks who would rather just sit in front of a computer all day, eat junk food and sleep from 4am to 2pm.

Date: 2004-04-17 02:48 am (UTC)Actually, I just need to get off my ass and hang out with people, period. Sadly, the idea of sitting and birdwatching, and the general communing with nature stuff isn't really me! I do spend too much time in front of my puta, probably because it's much easier to talk to people with a nice, safe, firewall in between. Where I can disappear anytime I want and never have to run into said person again.
Now I think about it, that's kind of freaky.
It's probably how I got into fanfiction. Luke would never understand how I could be "so obssessed with a TV show" (or sometimes a book), but really it's just common ground to build a writers group. Doesn't work with originals, who wants to read a stranger's original fics?
I miss hanging around with people who like to read and write. That's probably why I'm doing a Lit degree. It's also probably why I haven't really written anything original since high school, and we used to have our mini writers group in library every morning. (You never did finish Gusty, lol. :P)

Date: 2004-04-17 02:54 am (UTC)A couple of years after finishing high school it dawned on me that I'd loved animals and nature all along - hence why I'm not doing Biology instead of creative writing.
I try to write occaisionally, but never have much success.

Date: 2004-04-17 03:29 am (UTC)I tried Creative writing for a semester, thinking I could chuck it on as a minor, but I couldn't do it--I barely passed. Just can't write to a schedule, and it was way too much stress to produce anything decent--my final piece sucked balls.
I like to think my fanfics aren't too bad, but I haven't written anything there for more than a year either. Started a Bab 5 one, but left it unfinished... and got a Ratfic that's about 30,000 words and still (probably always gonna be) unfinished.
