Batty Thoughts
Sep. 22nd, 2010 09:03 pmGoddamn it why is it taking Arkham City so damn long to come out?
So, there will be a third Nolan movie. Christian Bale is an ass who has said he won't be in any Batman movie that involves a Robin. I would like to punch him for this statement but anyway... We left off the Dark Knight with Bruce Wayne being emo and vaguely wishing he didn't have to be Batman, and Batman riding off into the night taking the blame for Two-face's death (and the people Two-face killed). Essentially making the point that Batman is merely a symbol, and he can go underground for a while. "Hey! I'll just go back to being Bruce Wayne."
And upon further 'research' (i.e. reading a lot of comics and fics and such) I've come to a realisation. Batman CAN'T go back to being just Bruce Wayne. Because Bruce doesn't really exist. TV Tropes neatly calls it Becoming The Mask. Batman being forced to be Bruce Wayne again would probably drive him... err... batty. I like this concept for a movie. I also want to see Ventriloquist, because I think his psychosis is damn fascinating (and kinda scary), but I doubt that is going to happen.
I can't find a scan of this, so I'll just have to describe it. There's a scene in the Harley & Ivy comic where Harley is beating up the Joker, or so it seems. We soon realise it's merely an actor when Harley accuses him of imitating her Puddin' and the white facepaint comes off his nose. The dazed actor mumbles, "Yoda? Dagobah system..." I am terribly ashamed that that zoomed right over my head and about 30 seconds later my brain caught up and I was like, "Oh, that was a damn good joke, and I missed it!!"
Anyway, at the moment I'm purchasing/reading many graphic novels (Bookdepository.com is evil). I wonder when I'll fluctuate back to my Terminator tendencies.
