I think I can safely say that I'm now completely off crutches. I have a slight limp, but both hands are free!

And if consistently have showers without the shower stool for a week or so I'll take that back too and get my $50 deposit.

Life is returning to normal.

Bad news : my squeaker has fallen off my binoculars. Haven't managed to find it yet. Damn.

Good news : I just walked about 1km around Star Swamp Reserve. Without any crutches. I think I'll be good to go on the Lake Coogee walk next Sunday. Seeing as most of the birders are over 50 anyway I should be able to keep up. ;)

Star Swamp itself has a bit of water in it, and many frogs croaking. But a dearth of birds. I seem to have this ability to tune out the calls of junk birds. I wasn't hearing the Rainbow Lorikeets and Magpies and Ravens and Wattlebirds. All I heard was silence apart from a racket of song from about 6 Grey Butcherbirds on the western side of the swamp, and the 'whit-whit' of a Striated Pardalote when I was back in the car.

They make medical supplies. Part of my uni booklist was a dissection kit. Turns out it's made by these guys.

For ages I've been wanting really fine pliers/tweezers for beading purposes. They are hard to find and expensive.

Then I rediscover my dissection kit. The fine, precision instruments for dissecting are really damn useful when doing fiddly beading stuff.

Maybe I'll get back into this beading buisness after all. :) My main problem is that I have a shitload of beads and findings, and most of it is cheap shit, which results in crappy jewellery. Oh well, it's good practice.

I'm currently trying to bead on ribbon - how do I get the beads to stay in their places and not slide around?
