When I got frost bite on two fingers of my right hand, I was amazed how crippling such a small injury could be.
Now I have another seemingly small injury making many regular tasks (like driving) VERY painful.
The blister on my right foot (from the ill-fitting Docs) was considerably larger than that on my left. It was however the first to "go down" (you know how blisters swell like their filled with something? Well it was the first to kinda pop and just become a loose layer of skin again).
Today, because I was walking I puts band-aids over the blisters, 3 pairs of socks and my steel caps (which are real comfy). It felt fine. Started feeling a bit weird later so I put another band-aid over the right side blister because it was big and needed two band-aids. All I had was one of those nasty ultra-stick fabric strips. During the work my heel started becoming quite painful. The second half of the walk had me limping.
When I got to my parents I took off my shoes and socks to take a look. The fabric band-aid had stuck partially to the blister and torn the skin away. No wonder it was hurting. I had to cut off all the skin so it wouldn't rip off. Now I have a nice, large raw patch on the back of my heel and it smarts. Put some gauze with aloe vera gel over it (main ingredient of the gel? Alcohol. Ouch.) Driving is hell because I can't drive properly without shoes, I had to wear the steel caps because they were all I had. The movement up and down on the accelerator and switching from accelerator to brake was nasty. Wearing sandals is a bit better, but the movement, even with no shoes at all is still painful.
I hope it's tolerable by Wednesday because I need to wear covered shoes to RSPCA. Maybe eventually it will heal and I can start wearing my new Docs finally. The size 8s better not injure me like the 7.5s did.
